All courses take place at Camp Kabeyun, in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. Meals and lodging are included in the price of all workshops. Commuting is allowed, with alternate pricing, except as noted. All meals are included, regardless of lodging option.

All courses begin at 8:30 a.m. each day, and end at 5:00 on the afternoon of the last day, at the instructor's discretion.

Essentials of River Canoe or Kayak Instructor
Dates: June 7 - 9, 2010
Tuition: $565.00

Course Description
Taught by certified ACA instructor trainers from Zoar Outdoor, this three-day course is designed to meet the needs of camps, outfitters, and guides who lead river trips, or give basic safety instruction on Class I rapids. Course content includes teaching techniques, safety skills and group management skills. Successful completion leads to either the ACA Introduction (Level 1), or Essential (Level 2) Instructor certification, depending on actual participant performance. Appropriate for programs using sit-on-top kayaks (Level 1 only). Certification is valid for 4 years. Solid flat water skills and experience on moving water up to Class II required; teaching experience preferred.

River Rescue Clinic
Dates: June 10, 2010
Tuition: $150.00

Course Description
This one day skills development course prepares instructors for managing river rescue situations. Throw rope basics, swimming in moderate rapids, effective wading rescues and basic unpinning strategies, with more advanced skills as time allows. Not in itself a certification course, but a part of both advanced courses below. Offered separately for those who want to focus on these skills as a complement to their present qualifications.

River Canoe or Kayak Instructor

Course Description
River Canoe and Kayak Instructor course is designed to build on the tools needed to travel down a moving river (up to class I-II) presented in the Essentials course, including more emphasis on safety & rescue in class I-II rivers.

Whitewater Instructor
Dates: June 7 - 11, 2010

Course Description
This course is an extension of the Instructor course and prepares participants for leading groups on moving water up to Class II-III. Includes the River Rescue clinic. Whitewater Instructor candidates need to demonstrate leadership and group management skills; model paddling strokes and effective teaching techniques on Class II water, and paddle Class III. Teaching experience required. Successful completion leads to Whitewater Instructor (Level 4) certification, valid for 4 years.
