Triple Gift for Camp

Triple Gift for Camp

Like all who support non-profits, Kabeyun’s donors want their contributions to have the maximum impact possible. In 2024, one of our families discovered a savvy way to dramatically increase the impact of their gift to the Second Century Campaign.

Corey and Anna Workman leveraged a generous employer match to triple their contribution! Corey, a Kabeyun alum, and his family live in Crestwood, KY, where Anna works for UPS. As the Workmans considered their philanthropic priorities, they learned UPS was offering a rare, 200% match on Giving Tuesday. We asked them more about it.

What inspired you to support the Second Century Campaign?
Our family has a long-standing relationship with Kabeyun, which spans multiple generations. Our sons, Ian and David Workman, are the most recent family members to attend Kabeyun. When Ken Robbins and Mary Merrill reached out about the campaign and how it would serve future generations of campers, it was an easy yes for us.

How did the matching program influence your support?
The matching program challenged us to stretch our gift beyond what we originally planned so camp could benefit from the generous special match.

Is there a specific aspect of camp you’re excited about supporting?
Our children enjoy various activities at camp, but one of the biggest draws is the proximity to and activities on the water. We were particularly called to the reinforcement of the docks for this purpose. We see our contribution as an investment in the future, for the life of the camp and its campers.

Any long-term hopes for Kabeyun?
Our hope is that Kabeyun is able to continue its mission for generations to come. Hopefully that includes a fourth generation of Workmans!

Many corporations match their employees’ philanthropic contributions dollar-for-dollar, sometimes doubling or even tripling the initial gift! As you think about contributing to Kabeyun in 2025 and beyond, please ask if your employer will match your gift to increase its impact.
