Arriving at camp on opening day!

The first day of camp is always a challenge, never more so than this summer. We made a silly video to help you get a sense for what it will look like. Watch and enjoy!

Here's the step-by-step:

  • You'll sign up for a time slot for your arrival using a SignupGenius link that will be emailed two weeks before opening day. We can only handle about 12-15 campers arriving in any one-hour window.
  • When you arrive, you'll drive through the gate and meet one of our greeters, who will confirm that you're here at the right time and, if need be, remind you to put on your masks. Everyone will wear a mask until we've got everyone who's supposed to be at camp tested and welcomed into the bubble.
  • From there you'll head down to the parking area between the dining hall and the office, where you'll meet a few more Kabeyun staff who will help your camper(s) take their arrival COVID test. Everyone will stay in their car and wait patiently!
  • Once your camper(s) have had their noses lightly and shallowly swabbed, they'll come wait with you in the car for results, which should be returned in 15-20 minutes. While they wait, our nurses will come by to complete their health screening and go over health-related information.
  • When the results of their COVID tests are returned, assuming they are COVID-negative, you'll head to the Archery range, where you'll connect with one of their cabin counselors who will unload their luggage and chat with you for a few minutes. At that point it'll be time to give a hug, say goodbye, and he'll head off with their counselor to link up with ther rest of their cabin group. We'll ask that he pack a "go bag" with a raincoat, bathing suit, towel, water bottle, and change of clothes so they can take that and jump right into action. His luggage will be delivered to the cabin separately, and a counselor will help him unpack, make his bed, and settle into the cabin a little later on.
  • At that point, you head out and home!
