New Trustees Bring Experience and Talent to the Porter Foundation Board

by Ken Robbins /

Running an overnight camp takes a tremendous depth and breadth of expertise. Fortunately, Kabeyun has a strong and committed group of 15 Trustees to help steer The John and Anna Newton Porter Foundation, established in 1973 to operate Kabeyun and ensure its longevity.

Five new trustees have joined the Porter Foundation in the past two years: Maria Latham, Mary Merrill, Pat Regan, Heidi Snellenburg, and Jake Wolf-Sorokin.  Like their fellow trustees, each has a deep personal connection to Kabeyun and a commitment to providing the best experience for campers and their families. All five are loyal Family Campers; four are parents of current or recent campers, and two are former counselors.

Porter Foundation trustees meet at least twice a year with the overall mission of running a camp that promotes citizenship, character, and leadership. Each member brings their own expertise to the table. Our board includes a pediatrician, educators, attorneys, entrepreneurs, and experts in finance, marketing, fundraising, counseling, and real estate, among other fields. These diverse talents give depth to the board’s discussions and a strong foundation of consideration to all board decisions.

Mary Merrill

Mary is the mother of current camper Mac Thibault and is married to former camper Peter Thibault. Mary has more than 20 years of experience in alumni relations, development, and fundraising for independent schools. She lives in Andover, MA.

Maria Latham

Maria first came to Kabeyun in 1973 with her father, former director Nick Latham. She later worked at camp, where she met her husband, sailing counselor Paul Rosa. Their son Nick is a camper, and Maria is a physical therapist living in Groveland, MA.

Pat Regan

Pat is the father of a current camper, James, and was a camper along with his two brothers in the 1980’s. Pat is a portfolio manager with Boston Partners and chairs the Porter Foundation Investment Committee. He lives in Hamilton, MA, with his wife and four children.

Heidi Snellenburg

Heidi is a long-time Family Camper and the mother of two former campers who went on to become Kabeyun counselors. She lives in New York City and works in the advertising industry in data and performance analysis.

Jake Wolf-Sorkin

Jake is proud to be the Porter Foundation’s youngest trustee. He is a former camper and counselor who spent nine years at camp in the 2000’s. He lives in the Boston area and works at Cove Hill Partners, a long-duration investment firm.
