COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

Kabeyun requires COVID-19 vaccinations for all campers and staff.

  • Campers and staff are required to present proof that they are “up to date” on all COVID-19 vaccines for which they are eligible, based on the CDC’s latest guidance, using a cutoff date of May 15.
  • Anyone who is eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster shot on or before May 15 will be required to present proof of the booster in order to attend Kabeyun.
  • Anyone who first becomes eligible to receive a booster shot after the May 15 cutoff date is strongly encouraged to get the booster, but will not be required to have it in order to attend camp.

In accordance with its licensing requirements, Kabeyun already requires immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella.

The Porter Foundation’s board of trustees (which includes two board certified physicians, one of whom is  a pediatrician) is charged with protecting the health and safety of its entire community. Kabeyun’s vaccination policy was developed in consultation with medical professionals, camp industry experts, and our legal counsel. While we understand and appreciate that the decision to vaccinate and the timing of vaccinations is complex and personal, it is the Porter Foundation’s reasoned decision that a fully vaccinated camp population will give Kabeyun the best possible opportunity for a full, healthy, successful, and unmasked summer season.
