FAQ’s About Summer Camp: Asked by Kids

Getting to attend a summer camp for boys is an exciting and highly-anticipated event for many youngsters. Although many look forward to the experience of being away from home for a few weeks, many still have a few questions, especially if it is their first-time attending camp. Here are some of the most frequently asked question that camp directors and counselors receive from prospective campers.

What is the best part of camp?

Everything! There is so much to do at camp that many campers have a hard time deciding on just one thing that is their favorite. For some, the best part is meeting and making new friends, for others, it is trying new activities that you might not normally try. And for many, it's just living at camp, in a safe, welcoming, and caring environment. There are so many fun things to see and do at camp that we think camp is the best way to spend your summer.

What will I do every day while at camp?

There is so much to do while at camp! Activities may include anything from swimming, fishing, and tennis to pottery, archery, and woodworking. The best part is that you get to decide what you want to do each day; you are in complete control of your schedule.

What if I am not good at sports?

At camp, you don’t have to be good at sports to participate. There are trained counselors who are willing and eager to help you learn new skills and sports if you want to learn. They will not only teach you but encourage you as well. Before you know it, you’ll be succeeding at your own level. But camp isn’t just about sports. If you aren’t interested in sports, you can choose to focus on other interests.

What are some of the activities that I can choose from?

There are entirely too many activities available to campers that it would be nearly impossible to list them all! There are your typical camp activities, including arts and crafts, archery, sports, canoeing, ceramics, drama, fishing, hiking, music, and more. In addition, there is woodworking, basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, leather work and a plethora of other fun activities that will fill up your days of camp, keeping you busy and endlessly entertained.

Who will be my friends?

Whether you come to camp with people you already know or not, you will be given the opportunity to make a lot more friends while at camp! The majority of campers come to camp with the goal of making new friends, which is easily achieved as you are interacting with other campers continually. Camp counselors will have activities planned that will help you make friends on the first day of camp. By the end of camp, you’ll have a multitude of friends!
